Like sleep? Me too. Unfortunately, above 3000m means you don't get much. The thinner air makes hiking harder and more tiring and it makes your lungs seek more oxygen all day & all night. Plus, you have really weird dreams. Altitude not only makes you less thirsty but also makes you pee more: a double hit. And it causes gas. So the scenery is amazing but the effort required to hike is much greater. At one point, around 4000m, we had to run across a 150m section, with full packs, to avoid rocks and boulders that were whizzing down the slope. It was nasty.
On May 18, we reached our 'summit', the Thorung-La Pass at 5416m. It was Day 11 and definitely the toughest one so far. What a relief. I was ecstatic.
