I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City a little before dawn, just as the city was prepping for another day. Walking the streets near the train station was an inspiring introduction to the daily rituals of a unique part of the world. Merchants, mainly women, were getting organized early. The variety of fruit and veggies was impressive while fish and meat vendors, ice sellers, banana carts and heavily loaded scooters were all part of the scene. My curiosity brought plenty of smiles, chatter and laughter. Before taking a motorbike taxi to the airport, I had coffee with some of the drivers: it cost $0.25 for a deliciously strong cup.
